Parasail Alpha 0.2 Release

Wherein I was excited about a programming language, but never ended up trying it.

This post is a part of my blog paleontology series. I dug up and restored this post on 2025-08-11. I've updated some links to the wayback machine when needed.

I used to be a huge language design nerd and was very excited by the design of Parasail. When I went to restore this post I full expected the blog post to be dead. Turns out, not only is the blog alive, but also the project is still active!

Alpha 0.2 of Parasail has been released. I'm pretty excited about trying this language out. Parasail is a "a new programming language designed to allow productive development of parallel, high-integrity (safety-critical, high-security) software systems. the language is tentatively named "parasail" for parallel, specification and implementation language." I love looking at all the different approaches to parallelism, so this is definitely going to be fun to play with.
