This post is a part of my [blog paleontology series](https://blog.matthewbrunelle.com/tag/paleontology/). I dug up and restored this post on 2025-08-11\. I've updated some links to the wayback machine when needed.

I spoke about this post in more detail in [All Personal Blogs Die, But Mine Came Back As a Ghost](https://blog.matthewbrunelle.com/all-personal-blogs-die-but-mine-came-back-as-a-ghost/).

I'd like to give a special thanks to [James Hunt](https://web.archive.org/web/20140901204212/http://ohthatjames.github.io/) who's blog I forked (its amazing how you can actually fork a blog). As well as the [inspiration](https://web.archive.org/web/20130220102955/http://chrismdp.com/2009/12/jekyll) to do so.

I used to have a blog at [blog.overflowbit.com](https://web.archive.org/web/20100305091311/http://blog.overflowbit.com/) however it ended up becoming malnourished and so I decided to shut it down. One day I would like to set up a portfolio site at matthewbrunelle.com, however that would require having material to put in my portfolio. As of now I'm a high school senior for Rhode Island. I'm applying for the [Google Summer of Code 2001](http://www.google-melange.com/?ref=blog.matthewbrunelle.com), specifically with the [Python Software Foundation](http://www.python.org/psf/?ref=blog.matthewbrunelle.com). As such I needed a blog to post to and rather than set up a self hosted word-press install again I opted to try out [Jekyll](https://github.com/ciferkey/ciferkey.github.com?ref=blog.matthewbrunelle.com).

I can't wait to dig in to some real development!
